Yemen’s youth, sports minister assassinated in Sana’a

Yemen’s authorities have announced that Minister of Youth and Sports Hassan Zaid has been assassinated in an operation carried out by criminal forces affiliated with Saudi-led aggressors.
In an official statement carried by al-Masirah television
network, the Yemeni Interior Ministry said that Zaid was shot dead while
driving with his daughter in the Yemeni capital, Sana'a, on Tuesday.
The cruel assassination operation claimed the minister’s
life and seriously injured his daughter, it noted.
The targeted killing of Zaid is a criminal act, which is
part of the aggressors' plans to remove Yemeni national figures, the ministry stated,
adding that an investigation was underway to bring criminals to justice.
Saudi-owned Al Arabiya TV channel referred to Zaid as an
important leader of Yemen’s Houthi Ansaruallh force.
Thus far, no group has claimed the responsibility for this
brutal attack.
Saudi Arabia launched a devastating military aggression
against its southern neighbor back in March 2015 in tandem with a number of its
allied states, and with arms support from the American government and several
Western countries.
Their intention was to return to power a Riyadh-backed
former regime and defeat the Houthi movement that has assumed control of state
matters since the resignation of the then president and his government.
The war, nonetheless, has failed to achieve its goals, yet
killed tens of thousands of innocent Yemenis and destroyed the impoverished
country’s infrastructure. The UN described the situation in Yemen as the
world's worst humanitarian crisis.
