Iran-based Nigerian journalist Muhammad Awwal Bauchi passes away
Nigerian journalist and author Muhammad Awwal Bauchi, who had studied and worked in Iran since the 1990s, passed away on Friday.
Bauchi was born in the Nigerian city of Bauchi on January 1, 1970. He died at a Tehran hospital from a heart attack.
Bauchi, 51, spent 21 years working with various networks at the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).
At the time of his death, he was working with Hausa TV, the first Iranian media outlet that focuses on the African continent. He was a brilliant journalist who made a significant contribution to the operation of the station.
He had also written extensively and translated numerous books in Arabic, Persian and English into Hausa.
Bauchi is survived by his wife, and five children, including three daughters and two sons.
