On
Saturday, Unidentified gunmen attacked the polling unit at Ekwulobia in the
Aguata local government area of Anambra State carting away ballot boxes and
other election materials.
The Peoples
Democratic Party on Saturday confirmed the incidence on its Twitter handle
also.
The PDP tweeted, “In
Aguata LGA, Immaculate Heart Ekwulobia. Unidentified armed men have invaded the
polling unit, attacked party agents, electoral officers and made away with the
ballot boxes and other electoral materials. Voting has been cancelled.”
There have been
reports of widespread electoral malpractice across the state as bribes were
given to some Voters between N500 to
N2,500 from party agents to cast votes in favour of their parties.
Also, the late arrival of electoral materials to some polling units is stalling the speed of the electoral process and the consequent failures of some of the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System.
