Nigeria’s Usman beats Covington to retain UFC welterweight title

Nigerian-born UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman has bagged a second victory over his arch nemesis Colby Covington in a difficult fight.
Usman (20-1 MMA,
15-0 UFC) registered his fifth consecutive title defense in the rematch with
Covington (16-3 MMA, 11-3 UFC), earning a unanimous decision win the
pay-per-view main event on Saturday at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Usman beat
Covington via unanimous decision (48-47, 48-47, 49-46) in the main event of UFC
268. With a win in their rematch, Usman is the undisputed holder of UFC
welterweight title.
Usman, known by his
nickname “The Nigerian Nightmare” first beat Covington via TKO in the
fifth-round of a back-and-forth championship fight at UFC 245 in late 2019. In
the main event of UFC 268, inside Madison Square Garden, the champ got his hand
raised by unanimous decision – though once more only after an
incredibly-competitive fight.
