Tripoli hosts top Libyan ‘digital transformation exhibition’

Libya’s capital is hosting a technology exhibition which aims to promote high-end technical exchanges in the telecommunications sector.
The Ninth
Libya International Telecommunication and Information Technology Forum and
Exhibition ‘‘Taqnya’’ kicked-off in Tripoli is being held under the slogan, ‘Digital
Transformation in Libya’’.
The
organizers say the four-day exhibition which started on Tuesday aims to move to
a new era of technology and integrated digital transformation, in the presence
of several international experts from global institutions.
More than 200
major local and international institutions and companies are displaying their
latest technologies and innovative solutions in the field of technology and
communications.
Speaking
during the opening session on Tuesday, Libyan Prime Minister Abdul-Hamid
Dbeibah on stressed the importance of telecommunications and information
technology.
The
telecommunications sector “is a basic element in supporting development plans
and helps build a diverse economy that is based on innovation and knowledge,”
said a statement issued by the government’s information office.
“Technology
development is no longer an option, but a pressing need to develop all sectors
of life, including national security and the wellbeing of the people,” the
prime minister said in the statement.
The prime minister pledged to spare no efforts to support education and capacity building in the telecommunications sector.
