Poll: Most Americans blame Biden for the record inflation in US

Majority of Americans say inflation is affecting their lives and blame US President Joe Biden for the general progressive increase in prices of goods and services.

A new poll by Yahoo News/YouGov poll indicates that 77 percent of Americans say inflation is affecting their lives, and a clear majority - 57 percent - blame the US President for the record price level rise.

The survey conducted from Nov. 17 to 19 also found that more of the respondents selected inflation as the “most important issue facing America” than any other issues, including Covid-19. Only 18 percent say the Democratic president is doing enough to address it.

The results show in part why Biden’s overall approval rating has steadily fallen to 43 percent in recent months while his disapproval rating has gone up to 52 percent and why his approval rating is even lower (40 percent) in terms of his performance in economy.

The poll also shows that 51 percent of Americans say they are concerned that they “won’t be able to afford what they need during the holidays due to inflation,” while 45 percent say they are worried they “won’t be able to get what they need” because of shortages.

Since last October, overall prices have risen 6.2 percent amid supply-chain bottlenecks and sky-high demand for goods — the fastest yearly pace in over 30 years.
