Israeli lawmaker: Zionist settlers occupying Palestinian lands are ‘despicable subhumans’

An Israeli lawmaker and deputy minister has admitted that Israelis living on illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank are “subhuman” and “despicable”.

Yair Golan is a former deputy military chief and a member of the Meretz party in the Knesset. He is also a deputy economy minister.

“These are not people, these are subhumans. Despicable people and the corruption of the Jewish people. They must not be given any backing,” Golan told the Knesset Channel.

He warned that “this rampage will bring a catastrophe upon us.”

In a speech in 2016, Golan likened the brutal policies of Israel to that of Nazi-era Germany.

Nearly 700,000 Israelis live in illegal settlements built since the 1967 occupation of the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and East al-Quds.

The international community considers the Israeli settlements as illegal.

In addition to expanding its illegal settlements, Israel restricts freedom of movement for Palestinians not only in and out of Palestine but also within it. Israeli settlers, backed by the military, also routinely storm al-Aqsa Mosque and provoke clashes with Palestinian worshipers.
