Many countries celebrate Mother’s Day on 2nd Sunday of May

Mother's Day is a celebration honoring the mother of the family and the influence of motherhood in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May.

Many countries celebrate Mother’s Day on the second Sunday of May. This year, the holiday falls on May 8 in those nations.

However, the American and Western version of Mother's Day has been criticized for having become too commercialized.

Mothers are beautiful creatures of God with no replacement. They give power and encouragement to their children to move ahead with the confidence.

In Iran and some Muslim countries, Mother's Day is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Fatimah, the daughter of Islam’s Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Through the teachings of Islam, Muslims are taught that parents are such a blessing that we can never repay them and return their favor.

Their struggles and difficulties endured through your upbringing, especially the mother – enduring through 9 months of pregnancy, laboring through birth, sacrificing her comfort and sleep, cannot be repaid.

Islam commands us to respect and obey our parents, especially mothers. Allah commands us not even to say “Uff!” to our parents, which is a very minor word of annoyance. Anything worse than that is obviously prohibited. Our respect for our parents should be impeccable in every circumstance, to the best of our ability.

Allah also commands humans to be good to their parents, even if they are unbelievers and command us to commit sins.

Chapter 4, verse 36 of the Quran says: "Worship Allah and associate nothing with him, and be good to parents."

In chapter 17, verse 23, Allah says: “And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And that you be dutiful to your parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them but address them in terms of honour”.
