Putin to meet Imam Khamenei amid US 'worries' over Russia, Iran deep ties
Russian President will meet with the Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during his trip to Iran, even as the US officials claim that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s attempts to deepen ties with Iran amid the Ukraine conflict represents a “profound threat.”
We expect president Vladimir Putin to meet with the supreme leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and his meetings with President Raisi and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan are also planned,"Russia’s Ambassador to Tehran, Levan Dzhagaryan said.
The Russian Diplomat said he had "the highest expectations" that the exchange of opinions on a wide range of bilateral and regional issues raised by the Russian and Iranian presidents at the sixth Caspian Summit would be continued during Putin's visit.
On Tuesday, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that on July 19, Putin would visit Tehran, where he would meet with the Iranian and Turkish presidents.
Meanwhile, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said on Wednesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s attempts to deepen ties with Iran amid the Ukraine conflict represents a “profound threat.”
Sullivan’s comments come after US officials claimed on Tuesday that Iran is preparing to help supply Russia several hundred drones, to use in Ukraine, a claim that Iran has rejected as totally false as it opposes war as a solution to the Ukrainian crisis.
Moreover, Tehran has rejected Sullivan's claims on plans to give Russian advanced UAVs to use in Ukraine war and stressed that Tehran has always stressed that war is not a solution to the war in Ukraine.
The foreign minister spokesman Nasser Kanani said yesterday that Iran's cooperation in technical field dates back to the era before the Ukraine war.
