A ceremony was held in the Nigerian capital to commemorate the third martyrdom anniversary of Iranian Lt. Gen. Qassem Soleimani.

The ceremony was held at Iran’s Embassy in Abuja on Sunday. Dozens of Nigerian people who admired the Iranian general took part in the ceremony.

The ceremony began with a message from Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaki, the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN).

"It has been three years since we lost this great mujahid who was a symbol of the fight against terrorism and his martyrdom brought shame to the real terrorists," the message said.

Iran’s ambassador, Ali Bak, later delivered a speech at the ceremony. "With God's help, the blood of this martyr will be avenged from the criminals, namely the Americans."

Several Shia, Sunni, and Christian thinkers also delivered their viewpoints about the Iranian General and his impact on the Islamic world.
