Iran Foreign Minister departs for Northwest African nation of Mauritania
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian travelled on Tuesday to Mauritania to meet officials from the Northwest African nation.
During his stay in Nouakchott, Amir Abdollahian is to meet his Mauritanian counterpart Mohamed Salem Ould Marzouk and President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani.
Closer interaction with Africa comes as part of Iran's new shift in foreign policy under president Ebrahim Raeisi. Raeisi believes Iran has to focus on thwarting US sanctions instead of waiting for their removal through political negotiations.
