Algeria trying to limit spread of bedbugs from France

The Algerian Ministry of Health announced in a statement that the “application of international health regulations in anticipation of the spread of any epidemiological development.”

The ministry launched a health control system to prevent the infiltration of bedbugs in collaboration with various agencies.

According to the ministry, the measures include health monitoring and disinfection of aircraft, ships and land transport vehicles if the staff of the border health center detects a threat.

Insects have invaded French cities, raising concerns among Algerians about the possible spread of the insects to their country, due to the heavy traffic between the two countries.

Earlier this week, the French government promised measures to finance and protect the public from bedbug infestations. Dozens of shocking videos of the spread of bed bugs in buses, trains, airports and other public places in Paris have been published on various social media.

The outbreak of bedbugs comes as Paris prepares for the 2024 Olympics.

Bedbugs are small parasitic insects that feed on the blood of humans and animals. They are often found on bedding and furniture, causing itchy bites and infections.
